EGBA 2022-230 TRAVEL TRYOUT INFO

Welcome to the 2022-23 EGBA season.  All registered 3rd-8th Grade girls and boys House League players are eligible to tryout for an EGBA Travel team. In order to tryout for the Travel Team you MUST PRE-REGISTER for the tryout online by October 10. There is NO COST to register for tryouts. Please log on to eghoops.com and go to the "Registration tab" on the home page to PRE-REGISTER. Tryouts will take place between October 10-15 additional details on dates, times and locations for the specific age groups will be made available as soon as possible. TRAVEL REGISTRATION

-Registration for Travel tryouts MUST be done online at eghoops.com by October 10.

-There is no cost to register for Travel tryouts.

ABOUT EGBA TRAVEL

Travel A Teams practice 1-2 times per week and participate in the RIYBA league and tournaments including MLK weekend (hosted by EGBA with Travel Families all expected to volunteer) and the Cape Cod year-end tourney. Players who accept Travel A roster selection should regularly attend practices and games and should consider the EGBA Travel team as their primary team during the winter (with the exception of school team commitments). The mandate for Travel A coaches is to have fun and develop each player in a competitive environment. Playing time will vary player to player and is based on performance and team needs.

Travel B Teams practice 1 time per week and participate in the RIYBA league and tournaments including MLK weekend (hosted by EGBA with Travel Families all expected to volunteer) and the Cape Cod year-end tourney. Travel B fees are also due after roster selection. This is less of a commitment for players and families in terms of both cost and time. The mandate for Travel B coaches is to have fun, develop each player and ensure each player gets an opportunity to play regularly in the games.

After EGBA announces rosters, full payment is required prior to the first practice and participants can pay online at eghoops.com. The fee covers all games, clinician and gym practice time. Travel uniforms are a separate cost.

TRAVEL SELECTION CRITERIA

-Roster selection will be made by the EGBA Board, players must be present to get evaluated.

-Past player performance in Travel and House will be considered in addition to evaluations provided by Travel coaches from the previous season.

-Team needs will be considered when finalizing the roster, it is not feasible to select players who all play the same position or have the same skill set.

-Attitude, hustle, teamwork, i.e. being a good teammate will be considered, these traits are outlined under the "Fun-damentals" tab on eghoops.com.

-Travel rosters (A and B) will not exceed 10 players.

-Travel A rosters will consist of 8-10 players who the Board consider can compete successfully at that level.  

-Prior participation on a Travel team does not guarantee a roster spot for the upcoming season.
