The East Greenwich Basketball Association is an organization that will promote basketball among youth in East Greenwich by teaching fundamental basketball skills in a positive environment of sportsmanship and teamwork. The EGBA will organize youth basketball teams and leagues by enhancing the quality of children’s lives by promoting physical activity through basketball.

Children from Kindergarten through 12th grade who live in East Greenwich are eligible.

When a boy or a girl joins the EGBA, they will be placed on one of the age appropriate teams. Each team will have practice time each week to work on basketball fundamentals and team work. Teams will play one game each week. Players of all skill levels will play on the league teams and an equal playing time model for all players will be utilized. Teams will be fairly chosen with an emphasis on competitive fair play. Referees will be provided by the EGBA.

The league season will run for approximately 12 weeks with playoffs.

All practices and games will take place in local gyms. Fundamentals will be stressed. Coaching will be provided by volunteers who have gone through the “coach the coaches” seminar conducted by high school coaches. EGBA feels strongly that consistent coaching is a key in player development.

The EGBA is a member is the Rhode Island Youth Basketball Association. All players in the EGBA will have the opportunity to try out for travel basketball. Only players participating in “House League” will be eligible. Travel teams will participate in tournaments which are held throughout the season in RI and MA. Selection of travel teams will be made by an objective screening committee. EGBA will also sponsor multiple teams in the  RI Developmental League.

This organization was created to give every East Greenwich boy and girl a chance to improve their basketball skills by providing playing time, fundamental practice and games. We look forward to your children’s participation.
